Ray Romano played the dad of the working-class family in the Long Island-based Everybody Loves Raymond. Loved and relevant, the program swiftly established itself as a mainstay in American homes. The audience fell in love with all the juicy drama that took place inside the gates of the Downton Abbey estate between the Crawley family and their domestic employees. As the steadfast and witty matriarch from a bygone period known as Violet Crawley, Maggie Smith rapidly won over the public. During the course of the event, Smith was nominated five times and was awarded three times. Michelle Dockery and Joanne Froggatt, who played her co-stars, were frequently nominated as well. Downton Abbey was nominated for Best Drama Series each of the five years it was eligible.
