Motu lives with his best friend Patlu in a small rented house in Furfuri Nagar.
He was separated from his father at the age of 6-7 years in the movie Motu Patlu in Alien World.
Motu has a habit of calling people bare/boro bhaiya (big brother, in English).
He has a great addiction to samosas when he smells them and gets attracted towards them. He can eat hundreds of samosas. He usually dreams about samosas or eating a mountain of them. He also wants to do social work, but mostly gets into trouble with his best friend, Patlu.
Even though he is not skilled in any job, still he tries to work like constable, ward boy, cleaner, delivery boy but brings trouble to the company/organization where he is working and fired goes. He sometimes even starts his own business, mostly with Patlu, Dr. Jhatka and Ghasitaram but these too fail. Due to Motu’s folly though because of his strength, power and willingness to fight evil, he often defends his city against enemies, which is why he is considered the biggest enemy of thieves in Furfuri Nagar.
Since he doesn’t have a job, the money he has is probably from rewards from the government, usually praise from the police or mayor, and the least amount of money he can make from his businesses and jobs.
He was visiting European countries like Italy, France, UK, Switzerland, Germany, Russia, Albania, etc.
Nowadays they are touring all over India. He is depicted in the Taj Mahal, Gateway of India, Tea Gardens of Assam, Kerala Backwaters, Hawa Mahal, Qutub Minar, Victoria Memorial, etc.

He is a short, fat man in his 30-40s. He is wearing a red tunic under a black vest. He is balding around the head but has hair around his ears. He has quite a scruffy mustache. In Furfuri Nagar, he had a moustache, between which there was a gap.
Motu’s pajamas are red and white in color, with samosas all around. When he moved his home to Modern City, his clothing remained as his signature red tunic and vest, which is now a lighter shade of blue with renewed vigor. Her dressing remains the same in Europe Tour and Indian Tour.

Motu is selfish as he pursues many things without knowing them properly. Fat man is fat man. Due to his lack of intelligence, he is the head of the gang. Motu is too lazy with the housework, assigns Patlu the work, and gets annoyed when Patlu asks him to do some work. It is shown in some episodes and movies that Motu has a habit of sleepwalking and often punches objects or people including Patlu. He believes in Kundli whereas Patlu and other friends do not believe in Kundli.

Patlu
Patlu is Motu’s best friend. The main show focuses on their adventures together. However, Motu can be a little careless with Patlu as he has invaded Patlu’s personal space several times in the show, and has inadvertently thrown Patlu into non-ideal situations. Despite all this, Motu and Patlu still take great care of each other.
John
John is Motu’s enemy. He is the main antagonist of the show. John, along with his goons No. 1 and No. 2, likes to make fun of Motu and Patlu. However, when the characters are not in conflict with each other and/or plan against the other, they approach each other fairly decently and show up at the tea stall without conflict.
Chotu
Chotu is Motu’s nephew, and calls him Motu Mamu (Uncle). Munni is his mother. Chotu and Motu are very close. Motu is always happy to see Chotu and vice versa. Munni has commented on their similarities. Chotu loves his uncle so much that he got his mother to make samosas for both of them. When the uncle got frozen, he also cried.
Boxer
Boxer is Motu’s enemy (friend and foe). When Motu wants something nice for the boxer, he simply punches him and says ye le! (Take it!).
Ghasitaram
Ghasitaram also known as Ghasitaram is one of the main characters of Motu Patlu Ki Jodi. He is a friend of Dr. Jhatka and works with him in the lab. He is also a labor supervisor (lawyer/foreman) as shown in an episode in which he was supervising workers who were constructing a building. He also claims to have 20 years of experience in various fields, though most of the time his “experiences” don’t help. Ghasitaram is said to be a resident of Kolkata. His voice has been given by Saurav Chakraborty.
Dr. Jhatka
Dr. Jhatka is a scientist who lives in Furfuri Nagar. They have a lab where they usually make new gadgets. He gives his gadgets Motu and Patlu (or various uses), Chingum (to arrest criminals), and Sena (to help them fight better).
